Painting Instructions, Painting Is Easier
Than You Think!
Here's another example of a job that's easier than most
people think. Painting. Most of the work in painting is in
the prep.
First you should get all of your supplies together. Paint,
brushes, rollers, tape, plastic, drop cloths, etc.
If the room is empty, great, if not just move everything
off the walls. Protect all of the surfaces that you don't
want to get paint on. Put plastic or drop clothes on the floor,
use tape to cover trim and any edges, remove things from the
walls like pictures, fixtures, and outlet covers.
Using a roller paint all the large flat surfaces. Be sure
to paint as close to the edges as possible so you won't have
as much "cutting in" to do. That is painting around the edges.
Using a brush paint all of the edges. The tape that you put
on earlier really helps here because now you can paint freely
without worrying about getting paint all over your trim.
Remove all of your tape before the paint dries, this will
keep you from peeling away the dried paint. Now you're done.
Clean up is simple clean your brushes, paint pans, rollers,
etc. Now just pick up your plastic and drop clothes. Start
putting everything back where it goes.
Please note if you were painting over a colored wall you
should need another coat or two of paint. Just do this after
the first coat is completely dry. It's a real pain to tape
and paint all over again but it's worth it to get a good paint
job.
Now you can just step back and enjoy your hard work. This
whole job should take less than a day probably only 3-5 hours.
Not bad for something that you can now say you did yourself.
Like I said painting is easier than you think.
